That's not how I work. It's not how I've ever worked.

My name is David Hufstedler. I'm the owner, designer, and the only person who will ever show up to your job. When you hire Home and Castle Designs, you get me — my hands, my tools, my full attention, and my name on the finished result.

I didn't arrive at this work easily. I've rebuilt my life from the ground up more than once — and what that taught me, more than anything, is the value of showing up, doing the work, and not quitting until the job is right.

I grew up watching my father do exactly that. He moved our family of seven across four states — Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Michigan — chasing work, supporting people, and giving more than he took. He believed that home isn't just a place. It's what you build for the people who depend on you.

There was a moment in my life-a cold November morning in Warm Springs, MT. I was shown clearly the man I would become if I stayed on the path I was on. I decided then and there to become someone different instead. That was nearly eighteen years ago. Everything I've built since then has been on the foundation of that one choice.

I never forgot my father's lessons or the decision I made that cold, November day. I used it to build myself up to something I hope my father would be proud of.

I've spent over a decade as a licensed architectural draftsman and designer, drawing plans for homeowners and contractors across Montana. I spent years mastering the craft of custom epoxy — floors, countertops, bar tops, and one-of-a-kind river tables. I've earned 27 five-star Google reviews not by being the cheapest option, but by caring about the result more than the clock.

I know what it feels like to trust someone with something that matters. I don't take that lightly.

Here's what I've learned from every project I've completed:

People don't hire me for epoxy. They hire me because they want to feel something when they walk into their space — pride, awe, the quiet satisfaction of knowing they made a great decision. They want their friends to stop in their tracks. They want the result to be worth more than it cost them.

That's the job. Not just the floor. Not just the countertop. The feeling on the other side of it.
