Custom live-edge epoxy river tables for dining rooms, conference rooms, and bar tops — designed collaboratively, mockup-approved before we build, and crafted to last a lifetime. Serving Billings, MT and surrounding areas.

There is a moment when someone walks into a room with a river table in it and stops.
It doesn't matter how many times they've seen one in a photo — seeing a live-edge epoxy river table in person is different. The depth of the epoxy. The way light moves through it. The raw, organic edge of the wood meeting the fluid, luminous pour. It's the kind of piece that becomes the reason people remember a room.
A river table isn't furniture. It's a statement. And because every one is built from a unique slab of wood with a unique epoxy pour, no two are ever the same. The table in your dining room, your conference room, or behind your bar will exist exactly once in the world — because we built it for you and nobody else.
My name is David Hufstedler. Together with my partner at The Art Garage here in Billings, I design and build custom live-edge epoxy river tables for homeowners, businesses, and anyone who wants something in their space that can't be found in any showroom or catalog. Every table starts with a conversation and ends with something you'll hand down to the next generation.

The classic river table begins with a single live-edge slab of hardwood — a piece of timber milled to preserve the natural, uncut edge of the tree exactly as it grew. We split that slab down the center and turn the two halves to face each other, live edges inward. The space between them becomes the river.
That river is filled with epoxy — poured in careful layers, colored to your specification, and finished to a depth and clarity that makes it look like water frozen in time. The result is a piece where nature and craft meet in a way that no manufactured material can replicate.
Every river table we build goes through the same process:
Step 1 — Design consultation. We start with a conversation about your space — the room it's going into, the dimensions you need, the feeling you're after. Rustic and raw? Sleek and contemporary? Bold color or subtle depth? We listen first and design second.
Step 2 — Wood selection. Based on your space and vision, we present a curated selection of wood species we believe would work best for your specific table — walnut, maple, oak, elm, or others depending on availability and aesthetic. You choose the one that speaks to you.
Step 3 — Virtual mockup. Before a single drop of epoxy is poured, we create a virtual mockup of your table design for your review and approval. You see the wood grain, the river color, the proportions, and the overall look of the finished piece — and you don't give us the go-ahead until you love what you see.
Step 4 — The build. Once approved, the table comes to life at The Art Garage — our dedicated build space here in Billings. The epoxy is poured in carefully controlled layers, each one cured before the next is added to achieve depth, clarity, and the dimensional quality that makes these tables so visually striking. The wood is finished, the edges are refined, and the final piece is inspected thoroughly before delivery.
Step 5 — Delivery and installation. Your table is delivered and set up in your space. We make sure it's exactly right before we leave.

The centerpiece of the room — and the piece every guest will ask about. A custom dining table built to your exact dimensions, in wood species and epoxy colors chosen for your space, becomes the heart of your home in a way no furniture store piece ever could.

A live-edge epoxy bar top transforms any bar — residential or commercial — into a conversation piece. Bars, restaurants, man-caves, and home entertainment spaces get an instant focal point that no prefab bar top can compete with. Durable enough for daily use, distinctive enough to define the space.
Every river table we build is crafted at The Art Garage — a dedicated creative build space right here in Billings, Montana. The Art Garage is where the wood is worked, the epoxy is poured, and every detail is refined before your piece ever leaves the shop.
This isn't a garage operation in the diminutive sense — it's a purpose-built environment for serious custom work, with the tools, the space, and the controlled conditions that large-scale epoxy pours require..
River table pricing reflects the materials, the scale, and the complexity of the pour. Every piece is custom — which means every quote is specific to your table. General ranges:
Lead time is typically four to eight weeks from design approval to delivery — quality custom work isn't rushed, and we'd rather take the time to get it exactly right than hurry a piece that's meant to last a lifetime. Every project includes the virtual mockup and design consultation at no additional charge. You won't commit to a build until you've seen exactly what you're getting.
